How to Serve Macaroons

Lore around the origin of macaroons has these delicious treats originating both in Venice, Italy, and Paris, France, but it’s clear the delectable treats have delighted palates since the Renaissance Age. There’s something unmistakably sophisticated about the look of a macaroon with its smooth outside and its perfectly round shape. Today, macaroons are a major trend in the pastry arts and are making appearances at all types of events from showers to weddings!

The beautiful colors of macaroons make a wonderful addition to a dessert table, but deciding how to present them can be a challenge. The good news is that you can use cupcake display stands to create a wide variety of beautiful looks for every occasion. Here are some ideas to give you inspiration.

The Chloe stand makes a beautiful statement at tea and garden parties.

For the Afternoon Tea

Purchase or make macaroons in two or three colors and select floral cupcake wrappers that tie those shades together. Place two or three in each cup at a diagonal and slide the cups into a freeform holder. The Chloe Cupcake Flower Stand is a great choice and can be finished with fresh or silk flowers along its base.

For the Baby Shower

Buy or bake a selection of macaroons in blue, pink or a combination of the two, and visit a craft store to find a lovely ribbon that is 1/4 inches to 3/8 inches wide. Affix the ribbon to the raw edges of a cardboard cupcake stand with a hot glue gun. Our favorite stand for this purpose is the Petite Square Cupcake Tree, which will hold around 72 macaroons or around 40 if you choose to place a small round cake on the top.

For the Wedding

Select macaroons in colors that coordinate with your theme or buy a rainbow of colors to add a special touch to your dessert table. Purchase a dramatic tall stand with several tiers like the Foam Core Petal Cupcake Stand. Depending on the size of your guest list, you can cover the entire stand with macaroons or place macaroons on two opposite sides and fresh or silk flowers on the remaining two sides. Crown the top with a cake topper or a nosegay of flowers.
