Since this week marked the celebration of Earth Day, we wanted to highlight an eco-friendly cupcake baking technique that’s been circulating about on the Internet. Many of us have run into the problem of having to bake a lot of cupcakes for a special event, but only having one cupcake pan to bake them in. You could purchase a new pan, but if you don’t bake cupcakes frequently, this is likely wasteful.
Fortunately, if you have any old mason jars around your home, you have the perfect cupcake cake pan pinch-hitter available. Just assemble the lids, place a cupcake wrapper inside and pour or spoon the dough in as usual. You can put the mason jar lids on a cookie sheet to make them easier to put into and take out of the oven.
This technique can be used with all types of cupcakes. If you don’t plan to use wrappers as a part of your final presentation, you can always peel them off when you’re finished baking. One thing to keep in mind is that you should let the mason jar lids completely cool before you try to lift the cupcakes out. This will help prevent injury.
To make your eco-friendly cupcakes even more green, display them on a PVC cupcake stand that can be washed and reused again and again.
