One of the biggest selling points of cardboard cupcake stands is that they are very customizable and can be decorated to suit the theme of your event. When you’re decorating a cardboard cupcake stand for a birthday party, wedding, shower or get-together, keep the following tips in mind.
- Spray paint your cupcake stand first. If you plan to use spray paint, you’ll always want to do the painting before any other decorating and let the stand sit for at least 24 hours before you apply trim to the edges.
- Paint and decorate your stand unassembled, but be sure to assemble it to check out the finished look before the big day arrives.
- Transport the stand unassembled whenever possible. If you can take the stand apart once its decorated, you’ll have an easier time transporting it to the party or venue in pieces. In some cases, you may not be able to do so without damaging the stand.
- Only use nontoxic products. Make sure that everything from the spray paint to the glue is labeled as nontoxic or food-safe.
You can decorate the edges with a wide variety of materials. Here are some of our favorites:
- Scrapbook paper
- Artificial flowers
- Tulle or fabric
- Beach glass
- Plastic children’s toys
